Who on earth is Ffion Hughes?

Getting everyone together to film a Friends-style montage was proving tricky, so we settled on this: a series of candid interviews with our team members. Today we caught up with Ffion, our Digital Marketing Assistant.

 

Who are you and what do you do at KOTA?

Hey, I’m Ffion! I live in North Wales and have a Jack Russel called Pero (although he’s known on the street as the dog that barks 😵‍💫). In my free time, you’ll probably find me at the gym or trying a fun new experience or recipe. Last month, I went pottery painting and on a guided prison tour – super random but lots of fun!

I joined KOTA in January of this year. In my role, I get to be the digital marketing superhero for our clients! This includes everything digital. From developing captivating social media strategies to executing genius email marketing campaigns, I make sure our clients’ businesses stay ahead of the game. And with great clients like Wogan Coffee and Preto Restaurant who are always up for trying new things, I get to flex my marketing muscles and push the boundaries. Plus I get to learn so much about different industries; it’s like being a sponge, but with a laptop!

 

How did you get here?

From when I was in school, I knew I wanted to work in a field that combined my interests in psychology, English and media, but wasn’t quite sure what this was.

While completing my A-levels, I came across ✨ marketing ✨ and instantly knew it was the career path I was going to pursue. I started searching for roles to get into the industry and a few weeks later, I started as a Marketing Apprentice.

I’ve now been in marketing for nearly four years, working across everything from DIY to fashion and D2C ecom to B2B. This has helped me to really expand and strengthen my marketing knowledge.

I knew I eventually wanted to work at an agency because I like the variety it offers. So when I saw the job role for Digital Marketing Assistant at KOTA, I knew I had to apply!

 

Three favourite brands and why?

Of course Apple would be on the list. Cliché, but their whole brand is just spot on.  Their products, marketing and aesthetic – everything is just chef’s kiss!

I love REFY, a newer beauty brand. They’ve absolutely nailed the influencer marketing game. It also helps that their products are actually really good and I love their minimal vibe and their ‘redefining beauty’ message.

House of CB is one of my go-to brands when I need a new outfit, so I’ve got to mention them! They’re on the ball with releasing on-trend styles, the fit and quality is always great and their campaign shoots are perfection. BUT they could do with a new website (call us!).

 

Good web design is…

…when I can find the product I’m looking for, all the information I need to make an informed buying decision and can order it within a couple of clicks.

 

What’s your morning routine?

I am such a morning person, so I have perfected my morning routine. (My night routine, not so much, but I’m working on it!). First, I wake up and do my morning stretches. Then I get ready for the gym and drive to Total Fitness, which is a 25-minute drive from me. I always listen to a good podcast on the way. After working out, I drive back home, have breakfast, and then I’m ready to start work at my desk.

 

What do you geek out over?

I LOVE PLANNING. If it involves a spreadsheet: yes, yes, yes! And if it’s holiday planning, then that’s just my favourite thing to do. It’s a very Type A thing, but I’ve embraced it ✌️.
