A fresh new site for one of Canada's best independent animation studios.

Our Approach.

The challenge was to create a website that not only showcased Mercury’s animation but also acted as a recruitment tool for new employees. We aimed to add moments of joy to the website experience without overusing heavy animation, while striking a balance between their premium branding and their colourful illustrations. To achieve this, we used animated elements sparingly and coded transitions to bring life to even the simplest elements. Our team incorporated moving curved media containers to add an organic touch to every component on the site. We also used little animation loops in strategic areas to highlight their character work and increase conversion rates.

The scribble M icon played a key role in Mercury’s rebranding, so we used it as an interactive masked video element that ties into the brand’s tagline, “It all starts with a scribble.” Users can hover over the M icon to reveal the main brand showcase video, adding a fun and interactive element to the website. By working closely with Mercury’s team, we ensured that every element and interaction was tailored to their specific needs, paying the same attention to detail as their team of talented animators.
